Students experience the science, behind this balloon baking soda experiment. The chemical reaction between the base {baking soda} and the acid {vinegar}mix together forming the "balloon"; baking soda experiment gets it's lift! That lift is the gas produced from the two ingredients is carbon dioxide or CO2.
Using the pipe cleaner to form a soap suds seal over the top of the beaker. There is a flat, thin layer of soap bubble across the top.
As the CO2 expands, it pushes the bubble up and out of the beaker.
The CO2 keeps lifting and overflows onto the counter top.
