TUTORING
After school tutoring is available by appointment for K-12 students in math, English/language arts, science, and social science. In addition, tutoring is offered for high school students on reports, projects, essays, ACT prep, and college/scholarship application essays. Call for more information on specific needs.

HOMESCHOOL:
If you have been looking for a place where you know your child is given individual instruction, works closely with the teacher, is treated with kindness and patience, and is given the right amount of challenge, then Brighthouse Learning Center is Your Place!!

Our class size is one teacher to five students. This fosters immediate, positive feedback during class which optimizes educational success. It also facilitates healthy friendships. Students become like a school "family" where everyone belongs and is valued.
-
We cultivate a warm, friendly environment that promotes positive academic and social skills.
-
We reach milestones, celebrate successes, and create memories.

Students get to try new things during our many enriching activities of the core subjects. Do you know what honeycomb tastes and feels like? Have you made a fur coat for literature before? Do you know what happens when you combine raw egg and vinegar or boil red cabbage? What do "a quarter til" and "a quarter after" mean in telling time? Do you know how to graph a parallel line? Can you compare and contrast a classic book with its play and movie? We can and do! These are just a few of our fun experiences from this year!

We help students reach goals! We hear from parents "This is the first time in a long time that our child has been happy at school," "we're beginning to have hope again," and "what would we have done if we had not found Brighthouse?"
Bright-house texts and materials are selected together, after meeting with you and your child, to match what best fits his or her learning style and educational goals. Curriculum is aligned to state standards and benchmarks, and are congruent with public school.
Sample work and complete records are saved and organized into individual student portfolios which are presented to parents at the end of the year. This volume of work-product is proof of progress; proof that real teaching is happening and proof that your child has grown academically over the course of the year. My favorite part is at the end the year when we do a side-by-side comparison of first and last work samples in each subject. It is amazing to see the striking contrast!
Bright-house lessons are beautifully presented and integrated across math, English/language arts (ELA), science, and social science. Art, music, typing, yoga, and other media are also integrated into core subjects.
